Nesting

I don't think there is a better store for nesting than my recent obsession, Tiger.

A new branch just opened near me and I splurged on socks, shelves, frames, earrings, make up, and a set of 3 gorilla erasers. I say splurge, but I mean spent sensibly, because their adorable and colorful products are cheap as chips!

SEE WHAT I MEAN!!  Even their batteries look cool:

12 most snazzy pregnant Halloween costume

I shared my Halloween costume earlier this week. It's really difficult to come up with a costume for a bump without being cheesy and falling into the pumpkin pile. After looking for ideas, here is the best the internet has to offer on Halloween costumes for us pregnant ladies.

This last one isn't a pregnant costume exactly but I think it should be.

Topshop Wishlist

When I first became pregnant, I was reluctant to look for maternity clothing because I was sure that they would be, well, lame. Picture mumu dresses in the worst way. I was one of those girls in denial, trying to fit into her pre-pregnancy wardrobe. To my surprise, I found that a lot of brands I love have maternity lines.  +Topshop has some really stylish clothes for pregnant ladies. Thank god.

These are sexy and so essential to pulling off the baggy shirt, hot legs look. If I had better balance I would rock them with bitchin stilettos.

Maxi dresses are really flattering on pregnant bodies. This would be great for autumn layering.

I nearly fell over putting my socks on this morning. Balance can be a problem when you are pregnant but you can still look stylish without heels. These have a unique pattern and an laid back classy design.

Va va voom, proof maternity doesn't mean frump.

A great basic: wearable and versatile with a modern twist.

Casual and ultra cool. Pair it with the wet look leggings and be a total badass.

Carrying a bag around on my shoulder all day can hurt my poor pregnant back. Switch it up by carrying a clutch on nights out. I love the zipper detail.

This is a great color for autumn, plus they're nice and opaque for the chilly weather.

Outfit 30/10/13

Note to self: don't wear tights to the midwife.
This is a really stupid outfit to wear when you're going to get your belly measured. Cute but stupid.  Take my advice and wear jeans and a shirt so you don't have to hike up your tights in front of an audience.

So I can't zipper my beloved +Topshop leather jacket, so what? It can still keep my arms warm. The dress is +H&M maternity and the shoes are Target. These tights are the most perfect vivid red. They are brilliant and opaque. I got them from Hot Topic about a million years age, so they last ages.

The hat I got recently from Primark because it reminds me of Steve Zissou.

Bang on.

Stay Sharp

On leave with nothing to do I don't want my brain to go soft. I need to stay sharp, don't want to be one of those mush for brains mums. Need to keep my wits about me. So I take 5-10 minutes a day to play some brain games on Lumosity

+Lumosity has a free basic membership. If you want to get fancy you can see how you do against others and try ultra special locked games for as little as £3.75 a month.

Keeping the bump warm

I love autumn; it's jumper weather. Big woolly sweaters are one of my fashion vices, but most of my collection doesn't fit anymore. Thank you flesh balloon. I now understand why boyfriends don't want us wearing their clothes; they get stretched and distorted by our curves.  I don't want to ruin my favorite jumpers, and they look a bit silly on my pregnant figure anyways.  Here is a collection of my favorite ways to keep me and my bump toasty warm this autumn:

From left to right, top to bottom:
The color fade and open knit make this such a cute knit dress. Pair it with leggings and be a cute little bell.

Charming and comfortable with a layered look and sequin accents

A slightly more formal way to keep warm. I love how this cut flatters the figure.

Bump love. Sweet jumper with an adorable heart design.

Baby blue textured knit jumper. The bead embellished design is super flattering.

Wrap it up up, pretty drape look and ombre style.

This jumper has a great texture that compliments the bump.

Cozy level: maximum. It's organic, comes in 5 different colors, and they ship to the UK.

Smoothie Breakfast: the best part of my day

Since becoming pregnant I have developed a bit of an obsession with my morning smoothie. There are so many reasons that a good smoothie is the best way to start your day.
.
It's a delicious way to use up fruit that is bruised or getting on
.
You can add healthy things that you don't actually want to taste
.
Depending on what you add, it can be a great source of vitamins, minerals, and fiber
.
2 of your 5 a day
.

As recommended by my midwife, I try to eat a large variety of fruits and vegetables. When that fruit starts to look a bit tired I get excited: I get to try a new smoothie. I cut it up, ration it in little bags, and stick it in the freezer. The next day I toss it in the blender with a few staples and I get a filling, tasty, and nutritious refreshment.  Most of the time.

My smoothie staples:

Frozen Fruit (pretty much any thing I've got laying around)
Oats (for the fiber)
Ginger (tasty and calms the stomach)
Spinach (source of iron and you don't even taste it)
Cinnamon and Turmeric (just a dash for natural pain relief...again, you don't taste it)
Natural Yogurt (helps digestion)
Apple Juice (adds tang)

I also like to add in sweet vegetables from time to time, such as peppers, carrots, or beet root.  Experimentation is fun, but can sometimes lead to disaster.

Things I would not recommend in a smoothie:

Apples
Broccoli
Rocket or other strong flavored greens

I got my food processor from amazon.  It's a Kenwood FP731 Multi Pro Food Processor and it works like a dream.  I've used the blender attachment for all my smoothies and I have no complaints.

AhhhWooooo

I've got what I think is a pretty great pregnant costume.

I'm going to be...

THE MOON
My husband will be a wolf and obviously he is going to howl at me all night long.
It's casual. It's simple. It's stylish.
Both items are from Etsy and both sellers ship to the UK. +Etsy is a great place to find or commission unique Halloween costumes.

Pleased to meet you

This is me and my fetus, who I have affectionately named Ham. My name is Audrey and I am 25 weeks pregnant.  I am an American living in Essex.

No frills, flowers, or fluff.  I am a realist. A grump with a bump. I love fashion and will scour the internet for stylish maternity wears.  They are out there.
Despite lacking a sunny disposition, I am a thrilled mother to be and can't wait to meet the little guy.

I'm here to share the experience, so feel free to follow me on twitter, google plus, or email me directly xx
